Molecular Anthropology Laboratory

Molecular Laboratory of the Department was established in the year 2019 with the support from DBT - NER BPMC, New Delhi, Government of India. The Laboratory provides a platform for the training of students pursuing their masters and doctoral research work in areas of biological anthropology. This laboratory is mainly for research work related to Human population genetics, Molecular anthropology and Genetic epidemiology. The Laboratory has facilities like UV-spectrophotometer, genomic DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, Gradiant PCR. A DNA bank of populations from tribal and caste populations collected from Assam are also maintained in the laboratory. Presently, 1 registered research scholar is pursuing his doctoral work on the area of genetic diversity, hemoglobinopathies, and G6PD Deficiency.
